Following food hygiene inspections of various restaurants and food businesses in Glasgow, Scotland, 185 were marked as ‘Improvement Required’, failing to meet the ‘Pass’ standard. But, there is no need to cancel that trip to Glasgow in the west central lowlands after an unsuccessful week long hunt for the Loch Ness monster in the Scottish Highlands just yet.

The good news for potential locals and tourists however, is that the status does not indicate outright failure of a health inspection, moreover it is related to ‘minor’ infringements.

Although the Food Hygiene scheme, run by the Scottish Food Standards Agency, does not require food businesses to display their certificates compulsorily, the practice is encouraged with the focus being on a competitive culture with the aim of an overall improvement of Food Hygiene standards across various food businesses.
