Free iPhone app allows customers to find food hygiene scores
Ever wondered what the food hygiene score of a particular restaurant is? A free application or ‘app’ is available for iPhone users whereby they can simply point their iPhone directly at the food business premises and view the rating instantly.
The rating itself is presented as a star rating out of 5, with 1 star indicating a low standard of food hygiene and 5 stars being the top rating.

The advantage for customers of having access to this information at a touch of button means they can eat out with confidence that the premises was inspected and given a good food hygiene score, for instance. Not having a food hygiene certificate would certainly put off many customers from even entering a particular restaurant.
If modern technology is being utilised to encourage the improvement of food hygiene standards within food businesses and restaurants, and help create a competitive environment between them, whereby they try to improve their own standards to get ahead of their rivals, then this will ultimately benefit society.
To use the app, you need to download it free from the iPhone Apple store and go to the lifestyle section. You would need an iphone 3GS or above.
